How Connexion Used Notiphy to Collect Data to Make Informed Business Decisions
Challenge
Connexion is one of the leading electrical equipment and supply providers in the Midwest. Labor efficiency and productivity is a primary driver that allows Connexion to provide exceptional customer experience and grow their business without having to add headcount. Multiple workers are tasked with standard jobs throughout the day. Currently, there is not a simple and cost-effective solution available to Connexion, and other electrical distributors, that allows them to break down the broad tasks within a shift to create time measurement standards of their workers, achieve maximum labor efficiency, set new targets and benchmarks, and make intelligent, data-driven decisions.

Solution
Labor efficiency and productivity can be improved by examining per unit costs among inputs and making appropriate adjustments to the input mix (i.e., the worker, time, labor rates) by reducing the total time taken and allowing workers to produce more in those areas or work on other tasks. Notiphy provides Connexion the data to adequately measure labor efficiency, achieve productivity, and continue to deliver exceptional services to its customers.
Results
Connexion is using Notiphy to get a more detailed look at shift productivity by breaking time down into functional job areas. Notiphy allows them to get the actual data regarding the time workers are taking on each job and the true productivity of each shift. Having this data allows Connexion to set standards for performance and goals for improvement at each shift function level. This will allow Connexion to scale and grow without adding headcount, resulting in significant increases to the bottom line. Connexion will shortly roll out Notiphy across their entire operation.
“We are using Notiphy to get a more detailed look at shift productivity by breaking time down into functional job areas. By doing so we are able to set standards for performance and goals for improvement at each shift function level. We will use these standards to increase efficiency and ultimately lower our cost per order and other key matrices. After testing Notiphy in one department, we are now excited to roll it out across our entire operation.”
